ETHN106 Library Workshops

Drawing of three students with collage, paint, graphite, newsprint and crayon on paper

This guide accompanies the in-person library workshop sessions for ETHN106. You will be meeting at the Library twice this semester as you start work on your artist profile project.

In Workshop 1 we will discuss what authority means when it comes to the books, articles, and online resources you find for your classes, and you will learn some ways to better evaluate the information you find.

In Workshop 2 we will talk about the different types of sources you will encounter as a student researcher, how to use library and other research tools to locate information, and you will get a chance to do some hands-on research on your artist.

By the end of  these workshops you will be able to...

  • Explain different types of authority and how that impacts shared information
  • Use various methods to evaluate the resources you find
  • Recognize the difference between types of sources
  • Create searches and refine your results using various tools
