Stop AAPI Hate National Report, 3/19/20 - 2/28/21

By Russell Jeung Ph.D., Aggie Yellow Horse, Ph.D., Tara Popovic, and Richard Lim.  The report covers the 3,795 incidents received by the Stop AAPI Hate reporting center between 3/19/20 and 2/28/21.  Although the number of hate incidents reported represent only a fraction of the number of hate incidents that actually occur, it does show how vulnerable Asian Americans are to discrimination, and the types of discrimination they face.

FBI warns of potential surge in hate crimes against Asian Americans amid coronavirus

"The FBI assesses hate crime incidents against Asian Americans likely will surge across the United States, due to the spread of coronavirus disease … endangering Asian American communities," according to the intelligence report, which was compiled by the FBI’s Houston office and distributed to local law enforcement agencies across the country. ABC News, March 27, 2020.
