The Media Institute, founded in 1979, is a leading non-partisan nonprofit focused on communications policy. It promotes free speech, a competitive media environment, and journalism excellence. The Institute publishes papers, prepares regulatory filings, hosts conferences, and sponsors the Communications Forum Luncheon Series. It also coordinates Free Speech Week annually. Independent for 45 years, it is not affiliated with any other organization or lobbying group.

Calisphere is the University of California's free public gateway to a world of primary sources. More than 200,000 digitized items — including photographs, documents, newspaper pages, political cartoons, works of art, diaries, transcribed oral histories, advertising, and other unique cultural artifacts — reveal the diverse history and culture of California and its role in national and world history

Statewide initiative that helps public libraries, archives, museums, historical societies, and other heritage groups digitize, preserve, and provide online access to archival materials documenting the state's histories, arts, and cultures. To date, California Revealed includes more than 158,000 objects from over 400 partner organizations representing a diverse array of communities and collections.

Humanities for All, an initiative of the National Humanities Alliance Foundation, showcases the full range of these higher ed-based publicly engaged humanities initiatives, presenting a cross-section of over 2,000 undertaken over the past decade from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. This collection includes a wide range of humanities projects that engage with diverse publics as audiences and as partners.

California Humanities is an independent nonprofit organization, partnered with the National Endowment for the Humanities, dedicated to connecting Californians through shared heritage and diverse cultures. Their mission is to inspire civic participation and shape the future by promoting understanding, respect, and empathy. For over 40 years, they have supported humanities-based projects and programs, awarding over $29 million in grants across California. Their five-year strategic goal focuses on education, public engagement, and field-building to amplify the impact of the humanities, making them more valued and visible in communities.
