Citation Tools

NoodleTools is an online tool that helps you create citations and reference lists step-by-step. Try it, you'll like it!

The CSM Librarians created detailed guides on how to cite.

Should I cite this? Questions to ask yourself..

Why Cite????

  • to acknowledge the information you used (and not created yourself)
  • to acknowledge the cited author's experise,
  • to allow the reader to find the source you are referencing and
  • to enable her to use the references as a starting point for her own research...

Compare citing to "assist" in soccer (or another sport): record is kept (statistics) and rewards follow (recognition, remuneration..)

A reminder: CSM library databases - including OneSearch - contain citations to all the articles available there...just look for the "cite" or "email" on the search results pages!
