About Books

In addition to printed books, the CSM Library has many books that are free ebooks for all CSM students. Below you will find a selection of both ebooks (to read online) and print books (available for checkout at the CSM Library) related to the topics you are discussing in class.

Using Books in Your Papers and Projects

When you're looking at books to use for your papers and projects, keep in mind that you DO NOT have to committ to reading an entire 300+ page book. Here are some strategies for getting the most out of books in your papers and projects:

  • Skim the summary or description first to see if it's relevant
  • Look at the table of contents. Sometimes a book will have one great chapter that you can use to support your paper - you don't need to read the whole thing!
  • Use the index to search for the ideas that you're interested in to see if there are any relevant chapters or sections. Sometimes even a short paragraph from a book will be enough to help you support your paper

OneSearch

OneSearch is the library catalog that searches for books and articles. It searches most of CSM Library's online resources and all of the library's print books. This is a good place to start your search, but it's good to look at more than one library resource.
