The Epilog Zing 24 uses Adobe illustrator to send jobs to the laser cutter using a usb printer cable. The files that accepted end with .AI or .EPS
The Glowforge Basic uses a web browser to send jobs through the internet. File formats accepted are .pdf .jpeg .png for engraving, and .svg for cutting.

Laser Cutter/Engravers at the Library is currently free. Due to high demand, there's a 30 minute time limit for laser engraving on the Glowforge. A fee may be charged in the future to cover printing costs.
What is the work area for each laser cutter?
The Epilog Zing 24 has a work area (24" x12") that holds most standard engraving materials. With the large 24" x 12" work space, you will be able to fit the most common size for engraving and cutting, with power settings of up to 60 watts, means you will be able to cut through thicker materials and engrave at higher speeds.
The Glowforge Basic is a Class 1 laser product with an onboard camera for easy placement. It has a work area of 18 inches by 20 with maximum material thickness of 2 inches. The glowforge basic uses a CO2 glass laser tube with power settings of up to 40 watts, which means cutting through thicker materials might require additional passthroughs.
