CSM Library currently has one study room for student use. CSM students can reserve this study room for groups of 2-6, and use our space to collaborate, study, practice presentations, brainstorm, share ideas, and spread out. The room can be reserved for up to 2 hours at a time (no more than 3 reservations per group per week).
Make use of our white board (dry erase markers at the front desk), outlets, and modular furniture to suit your group study needs.
If the room isn't booked then individual CSM students are free to use the space until it is booked by a group or until the next reservation arrives.
Although CSM Library's study rooms are only available to CSM students, the Library welcomes students and San Mateo community members to use the library facilities, including public computers, the library collection, and open study areas.
CSM Library has student study spaces throughout the library. The main floor consists of two computer areas with space to do work, as well as individual study carrels and tables for pairs and groups to work together and spread out.
The second floor of the library holds most of our book collection, as well as spaces to browse, read, and tables to study.
The Library is an active learning space and while there are no spaces devoted to silent study, students are encouraged to work at a reasonable volume, or reserve the Group Study Room when working in groups. If you feel that the volume in the library is making it difficult to study, please contact library staff or the librarian on duty.
Many students take classes online, or take hybrid classes, and the CSM Library is a great place to attend your virtual classes. Here are some tips for using the Library while you're taking your online classes:
